February 24, 2001 - Near Uyuni on the Bolivian Altiplano

I've reached the end of the line. This is where I get off.  My journey which began ten months ago comes to a screeching halt tomorrow!  There's a economy class with in-flight service and movie, and my ass will be in that seat riding out of the Third World back to U.S.A. The journey is over and as much as I hate to admit it, it really is Time To Go Home.  Yeah I'm really excited to see my family, my new nephew Jacob, my friends, the Simpsons. There are stories to be told and news to be caught up on, but in my head I'm thinking that I'm only going home for the weekend. That I'll be back, right? Wrong!

My journey  across the South American continent began ten months ago.  After traveling overland through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil, I arrived in Salvador de Bahia - not the destination, but the last stop

On this site, I have all the photos and "Dispatches" from a 10-month trip that spanned over 3,800 miles from the Galapagos Islands in the west to the Bay of Salvador on the Atlantic. The first leg of the trip was made with my pals Rob and Ed and you can read their Dispatches, too.

Please go to itinerary to find out where we all went.  Also, it would be great to hear from you, so please email me. Check out the latest dispatches below.
